Nasal Surgery
Nasal Plastic Surgery (Rhinoplasty) - can create a more refined and proportioned nose that not only looks better but also functions better.
Reasons for Considering Rhinoplasty:
To remove bumps or humps on nose bridge.
To fix bulbous, drooping or upturned nose tips.
To reduce large nostril size.
To create a more symmetrical nose.
To repair a deviated septum or other nose breathing issues.
Best Candidates for Rhinoplasty:
The best candidates for a Rhinoplasty are those who are over the age of 14 that are physically and mentally healthy enough to undergo surgery. It is also important to have realistic expectations of results after surgery. Smokers will need to agree to stop smoking for a period of time before and after surgery.
General Procedure:
During your initial consultation, Dr. Varon will assess your concerns and goals. Depending on your nose and surrounding facial features Dr. Varon will work with you to devise a plan that can best meet your desired results. Typically, during surgery Dr. Varon will create a small, nearly imperceptible, incision across the bride of tissue between the nostrils (the columella). This technique affords an excellent view of the cartilages of the nasal tip for more precise surgical maneuvers. Certain patients can even have the option of all incisions being made inside of the nose which are entirely hidden and leave no visible scarring.
Recovery Process:
Recovery from nose surgery is a relatively fast and pain-free process. Patients sometimes report minor pain and discomfort associated with the surgery, especially the night after surgery. This pain should subside the day after surgery and can be treated effectively with oral medication. For most patients, the most inconvenient part of recovery is the fact that it is temporarily difficult to breathe through the nose. You will need to wear a splint for five to six days after surgery and most patients are back to work once the splint is removed. While complications are rare, patients can minimize potential problems by carefully following the directions given by Dr. Varon after surgery.
